MARCH 2021

Welcome to The Gambier House.  At 29 years, we are Gambier’s longest continuously operating bed and breakfast. We’re disinfected and eager to have visitors explore the natural beauty of the Kokosing Valley.

On the 15th I will hang up my apron and innkeeper’s hat after 18 amazing years.  It has been an extraordinary adventure for me to meet and get to know so many wonderful visitors to Kenyon, Gambier and Knox County.  I’ve enjoyed creating memorable breakfasts; talking with everyone in front of the fireplace; sharing your family triumphs and heartbreaks.  I appreciate how every visitor was so generous with their love for my Directors of Guest Relations/Breakfast Supervisors: Hotspur, Pogo and Tinker.

The new owners, Nan and Mike, are locals with hospitality experience and a shared reverence for wonderful old houses. Their expertise ensures that The Gambier House will remain a warm, friendly and special place to stay while in the Village.  I hope you’ll make them as welcome in their innkeeper role as you’ve made me.

We do ask guests to follow state mandated virus etiquette: keep that personal space at 6 feet, make use of the available hand sanitizers and wear masks in the public rooms to help insure the safety of other guests and our wonderful staff.  We are disinfecting after every stay but be aware that rooms may turn over with less than 24 hours between guests.

Tinker and I will still be in the Village wandering about; I hope you’ll give us a shout if our paths cross.  The porch rockers await.  We hope to see you soon!

E.J. Heer, Innkeeper
