FALL 2017

09/22/17

Welcome to The Gambier House website.  This year we are celebrating 25 years in operation: Gambier’s longest continuously operating bed and breakfast.

Well, the hazy, crazy days of summer are upon us, but it is now, officially, Autumn!  Kenyon’s fall semester is off to a rousing start and Homecoming is upon us.  Lots of sporting activities this weekend in summer-like heat and humidity.  Bring a thermos full of iced coffee to the games.

Of special note for 9/27 and 28 at the College: The Center for the Study of American Democracy is holding its biennial conference.  This year “Free Speech/Civil Discourse” is the theme.  Highlights of the event include the participation of Jeff Rosen, Teresa Bejan, Stanley Fish, Nadine Stroessen, Laura Kipnis and Howard Dean.  We still have rooms available for Wednesday night should you wish to join in the discussion.

As always, there are many interesting hikes in the area (the Kokosing Gap Trail), a scenic river (The Kokosing) to enjoy and lots of flora and fauna to catch the eye.  Amish country is just up the road and we can point you toward bald eagle and heron nests and, of course, the white-tailed deer wandering through the Village.

The College’s construction boom in downtown Gambier continues, which means, some traffic challenges and fewer dining options but business is still booming at the Kenyon Inn and Village Inn.

The porch rockers are a wonderful way to watch the world pass our front door.  We hope you’ll join us.
